Press Release: Morris Lions Club Car Show

Morris Car Show Moves to Grundy Co. Fairgrounds

Morris Lions Fall Classic Car Show is moving to a new location this year.  The Car Show will be held October 13 & 14 at the Grundy County Fairgrounds.  Another change involves the addition of the Saturday before the Car Show for the Swap vendors and the Car Corral for cars for sale.   Spectator parking will be located in the lot beside TA Travel Center, with buses transporting spectators to the fairgrounds.

After many wonderful years at Lyondell-Basil Recreation Area on Route 6, Morris Lions decided to move to the Grundy County Fairgrounds to provide more room for show cars and the possibility of moving to a two-day event.  Also, busing the spectators to the location will avoid pedestrian traffic on the highway, which will be a safer alternative.

Everyone is encouraged to come explore the Swap areas and Car Corral on Saturday, October 13th, from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm for a $5 donation.  The full Fall Classic Car Show with up to 1,000 Show Cars, huge Swap Meet, and Car Corral will be on Sunday, October 14th from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm.  Buses will transport spectators on both days from the TA Travel Center lot to the fairgrounds, because the parking area at the fairgrounds will be full of show cars.  Registration for show cars starts at 7:00 am on Sunday and will be open until Noon for a $20 donation. Many food vendors will be there to provide a wonderful day for car enthusiasts to explore and enjoy.  Raffle tickets will be available for this year’s Lions Club Raffle Car, a ’68 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Clone. Habitat for Humanity will be the 50/50 beneficiary this year and members of Habitat will be on the Fair Grounds selling tickets both days of the show.

Sunday’s car and swap show will include a Presentation of the Colors from the Morris Color Guard with vocal tributes at Noon on Sunday.  The Trophy Awards will start with the drawing for the Raffle Car at 3:30 pm, followed by the awarding of over 100 trophies and the 50/50 drawing.  Visitors are reminded that pets are not allowed on the grounds.

Morris Lions invite everyone to come out to the fairgrounds to enjoy this new larger venue for a wonderful 2-day event.  Contact Morris Lion Paula Newsom at 815-931-0226 for further information.
