Morris Lions Club Annual Fall Classic

It is time again to tell you about the Morris Lions Club Fall Classic Car Show and Swap meet. The car show portion of the event takes place on Sunday Oct. 13th. The gate opens for cars to start coming in at 8:00 AM. 3-D Sound will again introduce all the cars as they come in to be seated by class in our large show arena. Below you will find a list of all the classes of cars and trucks. It is a judged show and trophies given for 1st, 2nd>, and 3rd places. You will have several hours to check them out before the trophies are awarded at the ceremony at 3:00 PM. While you check out the cars you can join the 50/50 raffle sponsored by Habitat for Humanity, buy that last batch of tickets for the RAFFLE TRUCK and have a snack from the food court and something to wash it down with. The swap meet is really four locations of swap vendors surrounding the car show arena and inside the main gate where you will find 124 more swappers and inside the Commercial building there are 30 more spaces; about 800 spaces in all.
You will no doubt meet up with friends and fellow car enthusiasts all who are having a fun time, and helping to support your local Morris Lions Club. That $5.00 the everyone paid to get will go to the betterment of our local community, new eye glasses and hearing aids for those in need, maintain Lions Park, undertake special projects as they come about such as refurbishing the Fireman’s memorial north of the Firehouse downtown and the Policeman’s Memorial in Chapin Park. The city is constructing a new pavilion in lower Goold Park to replace the old Lions pavilion. Lions also helped to fund this one as well. We do scholarships for students, help needy families at Christmas and so much more.
Remember Lions motto is “We serve.” We are the largest service organization in the world and the most active service organization in Morris! We are proud to be able to do the things we do and with your help and donations we really make things happen.
Oh by the way, we are looking for new members to help us with the cause. Elsewhere on the web page you will find a membership application.
The Habitat for Humanity will be hosting a 50/50 raffle during the show. Tickets will be available soon and through the show. The winner will be drawn on Sunday. Time to be determined. Lions club partners with Habitat by providing trees to landscape the houses that are built.

You will have your last chance to get raffle truck tickets at the show. Tickets will be available near the car registration tent and will be sold right up until the 3:00 deadline when the truck will be raffled.
While you enjoy visiting the swap vendors and all the classic cars don’t forget to have a snack or lunch and a drink of your choice. We have a variety of vendors waiting to make sure that you don’t leave hungry. You will find everything from hamburgers to pork burgers, corn dogs, brats, pork chops on a bun, on a stick, beef in a taco, burritos, beef sandwiches….. AND lots of tasty things to satisfy your sweet tooth. In addition, we have water, sodas, and beer to drink.

We have spaces for 880 swap venders. The most ever!!!
Saturday is exclusively a swap meet and car corral. Many set up Friday and are ready for business Saturday morning others will setup on Saturday AM.
Sunday swappers will still be here along with the car show. You will find all things auto. We also will be providing help from the boy scouts to make sure you can get your new purchases to your vehicle without a hassle.
This year there will be four areas to visit. Two are outside on the grass, the third will be inside the main gate on the gravel, and the fourth is inside the Commercial building where up to 30 more swappers can set up.
A new swap area with 248 spaces has been added and this will allow us to be able to seat more swappers and not have to resort to the less than ideal spaces between buildings and in the trees that we had to use last year when we ran out of space.
Once we have sold out, we will not be able to seat anyone else. All the spaces we sell this year have good visibility and access. We have widened aisles and all the spaces are still 20’ x 20’.
For your convenience you will find a welcome letter if you would like to sign-up for swap space.
The letter gives the details you will need. There is also a registration form for you to print and send in or you can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and a letter and form will be sent to you.
Regular 20x20 Space(s) minimum $25.00 each if pre-registered by 9/20
Swap space(s) registered after September 20 will be minimum $50.00 each
Indoor swap spaces $50 each (inside the commercial building, electricity available)
All on the aisle. Only 30 spots available. Special signage and advertising added.

Specific instructions days of show will be available including from the vendors on how to handle your oversized or heavy purchases. We will see that you get your purchased items to your car

Show Car Registration
Car Registration 8:00AM until noon - Sunday, October 13th
Registration fee is $20.00 for each vehicle and one passenger - $5.00 for each additional passenger
All show cars must be driven into the show area
Show car trailer parking will be available in designated area on site
You must go to the registration tent to fill out your forms to be eligible for prizes
Trophies will be awarded at 3:30PM right after the raffle truck winner has been drawn.
